Anita Vallabh, Ph.DAnita Vallabh is a classical Indian dancer turned critic, cultural commentator, and editorial curator of Global Indian Artist LLC — a platform where diaspora, dance, and dialogue converge. With a Ph.D. in the performing arts and years of writing for Narthaki.com and Sruti, her work bridges tradition and transformation.
She is the author of three books: Message in Movements: The Essence of Bharatanatyam (2008), Abhinaya Darpanam: An Illustrated Translation (2012, now in its 4th edition), and You Are Your Desires: How an Ancient Indian Wisdom Template Will Help You Tap into Your Desires and Shape Your Destiny (2024).
Her contributions to Indian dance have been recognized through multiple honors: the National Award for Best Dancer (1992–1993) from the National Hindi Academy, Calcutta, with the title Kala Bharati; the title Bharatanatya Pracharamani from the Tamil Association in Myanmar for her pioneering work in schools at Yangon; and the Certificate of Honor (2011) from the Council of the City and County of Honolulu.
